One of them is the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which introduces comprehensive, binding standards for the entire lifecycle of packaging. The primary goal of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation is to significantly reduce the environmental impact of packaging within the European Union. This is to be achieved by reducing resource consumption and packaging waste, while also promoting circular economy practices in businesses. The regulation affects stakeholders across all industries, from manufacturers and retailers to distributors placing packaging on the EU market. Additionally, it applies to products manufactured abroad and imported into the EU.
