Bio-based raw materials for recyclable packaging
Most plastic packaging is made from fossil raw materials, is rarely recycled and is not biodegradable. Innovative bioplastics can provide a sustainable alternative. They have new properties and can have several “end-of-life” options: recyclable and/or biodegradable.
Packaging made from bioplastics
- can be recyclable
- can be biodegradable and/or compostable
- can be made from biobased, biological waste or renewable resources
- can have innovative features and beneficial new barrier properties
- can help prevent the accumulation of microplastics in our environment contribute to reducing the use of finite fossil resources and CO2 emissions
