Paluren LDPE
Recycled LDPE from recycled beverage cartons for injection molding applications
Paluren LDPE is a high-quality LDPE recyclate derived from the polyethylene fraction of used beverage cartons. Through a purely mechanical and physical process, a sustainable plastic is created that is ideally suited for injection molding applications. The material contains a small amount of aluminum flakes, giving it a distinctive appearance
Highlights of Paluren

Substituting virgin plastics promotes the conservation of fossil resources.

Thanks to purely mechanical recycling without chemical additives & innovative separation and washing processes

Contributes to the circular economy and reduces environmental footprint

Comply with EU requirements by increasing the recycled content in your products
With Paluren the following products can be made:
Paluren LDPE: Sustainable Plastic Recyclate for Injection Molding
Paluren LDPE is an innovative plastic recyclate obtained from the polyethylene fraction of used beverage cartons. Thanks to a purely mechanical, water-based recycling process, the result is an LDPE recyclate that is resource-saving, reliable, and market-ready – ideal for injection molding applications.
PolyAl Recycling: How Beverage Cartons Become New Raw Materials
Beverage cartons are made of paper fibers, LDPE, HDPE, and aluminum. While paper fibers have long been successfully recycled, the plastic-aluminum residues remained a challenge. The innovative Palurec process closes this gap by transforming waste into valuable secondary raw materials.
Since 2021, Palurec GmbH in Hürth near Cologne has been operating a state-of-the-art recycling plant that processes PolyAl residues from used beverage cartons purely mechanically and physically. Water is the only separation medium used – organic solvents are completely excluded. This way, LDPE, HDPE, and aluminum are separated, washed, dried, and prepared as new raw materials.

Benefits of Beverage Cartons
Thanks to their multi-layered structure (paper, plastic, aluminum), they reliably protect against light, air, and germs, making them ideal for storing food without refrigeration. Compared to glass bottles, beverage cartons are significantly lighter and can be stacked and transported more efficiently. Their space-saving disposal also makes them popular among consumers.
In Germany alone, around 4.5 billion beverage cartons are used annually – roughly 1.5 kg per person. Multi-stage recycling of beverage cartons enables the recovery of valuable raw materials such as paper fibers, plastics, and aluminum. By using Paluren LDPE recyclate, these raw materials can be reintroduced into new products. This circular approach conserves resources and reduces waste – a true win-win for both the environment and product quality.
Why Recycle Beverage Cartons?
Beverage cartons are made of high-quality materials: in addition to paper as the main raw material, they contain HDPE for closures, as well as LDPE and aluminum in the paper coating. Thanks to modern recycling plants, these components can now be efficiently recovered and processed. The result: recyclates with high purity and versatile applications.
