"Sustainably designed, made for the circular economy" – Plastic packaging solutions for a circular future

“Sustainably designed, made for the circular economy“ – under this motto, FKuR will present its growing portfolio of circular plastics meeting PPWR requirements at Fachpack in Nuremberg from September 23 to 25, 2025 (Hall 4, Stand 4-111). The solutions include high-performance post-consumer recyclates (PCR) and recycled compounds developed in-house, as well as bio-based and biodegradable plastics. A new addition is the LDPE recyclate “Paluren” from Palurec (Hürth/Germany), derived from recycled beverage cartons. Also new are FKuR’s own Macolen® PP compounds, produced from PCR and PIR materials. The portfolio is rounded out by bio-based drop-in solutions, including Braskem’s I’m green™ bio-based PE and EVA grades.

PCR at virgin-quality level

Macolen® represents a family of modified PP compounds derived from post- and pre-consumer sources, designed to manufacture PPWR-compliant products or to replace fossil-based virgin material. In addition to two unreinforced injection-molding grades available in natural or white, with different impact strengths, compounds filled with 20% or 40% talc by weight as well as a profile extrusion grade are also available. Macolen® complements FKuR’s portfolio of high-quality recycled PP, HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE grades sourced from post-consumer waste streams. All injection-molding, blow-molding, and extrusion grades included are RecyClass-certified. Potential non-food applications include packaging and containers for decorative cosmetics and accessories, cans and jars, as well as matching screw caps, buckets, or plant pots.

Visually appealing LDPE recyclate from beverage cartons

New to FKuR’s distribution program is the plastic recyclate Paluren. This LDPE, available in pellet form, is produced through an innovative recycling process from used beverage cartons (PolyAl) and contains around 4% aluminum flakes. This gives products made from Paluren a unique appearance. The recycling company Palurec employs a mechanical-physical process that uses no organic solvents, with water as the only separation medium. The production of Paluren LDPE meets the requirements of the German VerpackG certification as well as the RecyClass Recycling Process Certificate.

Paluren can be processed similarly to conventional PE and allows the use of hot runner injection molding technology as well as common polyolefin-based color and additive masterbatches. It can also be welded and bonded. The aluminum flake content is intentionally utilized to create attractive aesthetic properties.

Drop-in solutions for food packaging

Given the existing regulatory hurdles around the use of recyclates in food applications, bio-based and recyclable drop-in solutions, such as Braskem’s I’m green™ bio-based products, provide the necessary alternatives to recyclates. Custom Green PE compounds like Terralene® and Terralene® PP are also available for a wide range of applications, including injection molding, blow molding, and film extrusion.
