Bioplastic for injection molding
Kaue Süd Engineering has been relying on bioplastic from FKuR for over a decade (15 years). Under the new brand “ecoproducts,” Kaue Süd Engineering has designed a range of products from various bioplastics. In addition to household items and sand toys, customers will also find a steam inhaler in the range.
The material for the inhaler must meet high standards: it must be safe, easy to clean, and temperature resistant. Additionally, it should offer a high-quality feel and be made from sustainable materials to minimize the ecological footprint. Kaue Süd Engineering has chosen Terralene® HD 4527, a bioplastic based on sugarcane. This material offers numerous advantages, making it ideal for manufacturing the steam inhaler.
Simple, safe, and easy to clean
The steam inhaler consists of an inner and outer container, as well as a mouthpiece, all made from the bioplastic Terralene® HD 4527. This material is dishwasher safe even at high temperatures, significantly reducing the cleaning and maintenance effort for the customer.
High-quality feel
The high material density of Terralene® HD 4527 gives the inhaler a heavier, more valuable feel. This makes the inhaler feel more premium compared to models made from conventional HDPE.
High stiffness and strength
Terralene® HD 4527 is characterized by high stiffness, making the inhaler particularly durable and resilient. This ensures a long product lifespan and high reliability in use.
Durable and temperature resistant
The inhaler must withstand extreme temperatures. The inner container is filled with boiling water and placed in the outer container. The double-walled insulation allows the inhaler to be held safely and used on the go while effectively retaining heat.
Dishwasher safe and space-saving
After use, the inhaler can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher, disassembled, and stored compactly. Thanks to its food contact approval, Terralene® HD 4527 provides additional safety for users.
Thanks to the collaboration with FKuR and the use of Terralene® HD 4527, Kaue Süd Engineering has been able to develop a steam inhaler that impresses not only with its functionality and user-friendliness but also meets customer-specified sustainability standards. This high-performance plastic compound offers excellent mechanical properties and can be easily processed in injection molding, even with PP tools.
Choose biobased HDPE for more Circular Economy
High-performance plastic compounds with high density, such as the selected Terralene® HD 4527 (please link this as not all Terralene types have high density), offer various possibilities. The high filler content in the bioplastic achieves high quality in terms of haptic properties. Terralene® is a so-called biobased drop-in bioplastic. The injection molding types of this product line are characterized by excellent processability, even with PP tools. After use, products made from Terralene® can be recycled in the PE recycling stream. This way, top-notch material quality can be ideally combined with safety standards, sustainability, and recyclability.
